the Blog

☐ 1. dumping your phone/saving all of your photos & videos to an external device - have an empty phone for capturing memories

☐ 2. ordering/buying any last minute items you need

☐ 3. finalizing your packing lists & packing - if not already mostly packed honestly & double checking your bags/piles before loading them into the vehicles for travel next week

☐ 4. making sure all of your camping gear is good to go - this should have been done weeks ago, but better late than never. If you are flying, making sure your flights etc are all on time, transfers on time, rides to & from airport secured & of course TO where ever you are going to end up once you land.

☐ 5. confirming all outfits/costumes - enough underwear & socks for all days/nights + extra

☐ 6. cleaning out your car/oil change/tire check/filters/confirming paperwork/etc

☐ 7. securing your wristbands & car stickers - if you did not receive in the mail by Sunday latest, contact Lost Lands so you can pickup at will call. It’s really not a huge deal.

☐ 8. procuring your test strips, narcan & any *accessories* to partake in whatever you are doing. No glass allowed. Green is legal in Ohio. Please be safe.

☐ 9. grocery shopping & meal prepping

☐ 10. having a blast while doing all of these things! the joy is in the process! the memory making starts way before getting into the valley.

Please also be GETTING LOTS OF REST!

I hope this list helps. Sound off in the comments with some of your top things you’ve been taking care of this week before we head to Lost Lands NEXT WEEK! 🦕

Are you a little panicked or anxious about packing for Lost Lands 2025?!

What's the weather going to be, right? It's the freaking Midwest Ohio weather in the middle of September.

Honestly... DON'T BE WORRIED! It's going to be ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY STUNNING WEATHER!

Peep the future forecast for yourself!

NEXT WEEK when we are back home in the Valley, everything will align perfectly for our Lost Lands family. I promise.

Truly, I'm just grateful for the lows to be more in the 50s at overnight...

A month ago, it was forecasting even low 40s for the overnight a couple of the nights.

I'll try to find the screenshot.

FYI! Sunday night, though, has been consistently trending COLD AF at 48 degrees.

Moral of the story, be prepared for all weather, temperatures, & adventures! :D

My TOP 10 favorite ways of staying warm at Lost Lands 2025:

  1. Layers! to be able to take on & off as I dance vs walking through the crowd or back to camp.

    1. Pashmina

    2. Harem gypsy pants

    3. Long sleeve cardigan or kimono

    4. Leg Warmers! Classic fluffy 90s/Y2K style or just the basic insulated or knitted ones will work. They honestly complete the outfit usually!

    5. Gloves or Mittens, yes literally - especially to sleep in or walk around camp at night; or to & from the bathrooms, etc.

    6. Beanie or Bucket Hat (that fits over my braids!) or Head wrap that covers my ears - for sleeping especially.

    7. Detachable hood

  2. HOT HANDS! They make all kinds, for different parts of the body too. Like even your toes! I've never tried those... but a few gals I know have and swear by them!

  3. Mr. Heater Buddy! Yes, the little one with the little green propane tanks. There are 2 styles and I have the little box one. The ones ice fishermen use and such. They are a lifesaver at camp! Not to bring into the festival of course ;)

  4. Liquid Dreams Kritter Klips Faux Fur Coat! Like the ones you see people wearing at Burning Man... there are a few designers that create these masterpieces. I chose the Jurassic Blacklight design from last year - it's reversible too! I have been waiting to wear it since last year for Lost Lands 2024 aka Dust Lands, it was honestly way too TOO HOT for a coat like that. Spirit Hood also makes beautiful faux fur coats & hoods!

*I am not sponsored, I just love my coat!

  5. THE PYRO! Not just the stage pyro, the pyro that is throughout the festival to keep us warm! Usually there is fire along the paths, along with a fire installation where people press the buttons to the beat, that's near Subsidia Stage. And hopefully Jeff brings back the fire dome! The ones that shoot the fire balls out the top, but also have fire on the ceilings for warmth & you can sit inside - it looks like a giant jungle gym.

  6. FASHION OPTIONS:

    1. Pajama onesies! This will be a STAPLE fashion statement at all afties & especially the Silent Disco! ;)

    2. Overalls or Jogger Jumpsuits - A few different vendors sell the coolest patchwork overalls and pants.

    3. A literal ROBE! Yes, I said a robe! These are great to thrift & wash yourself. From silky material to the big soft plush fluffy style, they both are options I'm bringing to Lost Lands 2025 personally! Also called a duster jacket.

  7. Eating warm food or drinking a warm drink! There's nothing quite like a 1am hot chocolate treat or warm snack, like banana bread. At one of the vendors OR at your camp! Set yourself up for success at camp by making sure your grocery list includes some comfort items, especially pre-prepared.

  8. Moving my body! Dancing! I put this further on the list because, I am over 30 and cannot rely on my once "immortal-esque" body I had in my 20s... ha! All jokes aside - this is a true way to warm up.

  9. Staying within the crowds - more bodies = more heat. Simple & easy.

  10. Last but not least, huddling or cuddling with friends! Keeping it PLURR and consensual, always.

I also have heard of people bringing heated blankets to sleep in, that have their own rechargeable power source? I do not think my Jackery is powerful enough keep a heated blanket on - I feel like it would also be unsafe. But that's just me :p

I personally do not suggest consuming more alcohol or substances to stay warm.

I am a millennial woman, I used to go clubbing in 6" heels, a bodycon dress & an alcohol blanket... ha! Because we never wanted to hang onto our coats or pay for coat check, if it was even available! That was then, this is now & I am a baby when it comes to the cold - especially due to my Raynauds and POTs conditions. Also 4.5 years sober!

FOR EMERGENCIES TO KEEP WARM: Please consider acquiring an emergency foil poncho or blanket that's for warmth, not just rain protection. They come in little packs. I found the rain poncho/foil insulated combos on Amazon last year and always have 2 in our backpacks just in case! Better have it & not need it, right?

Now that we are into September & basically only 1 WEEK AWAY, I'm checking the future forecast more than a few times a day, I'll admit. But it's for science! ;)

I use AccuWeather.com, because it was mostly accurate the past few years AND it has the future forecast presented nicely, easy to screenshot & read.

Here is an example of how the weather forecast has changed from the 15th-22nd from checking on Sept 3rd, 5th & 7th. Not A LOT of variation, but at least 5 degrees here or there. I highlighted the dates for Tuesday-Monday in yellow or green (phone vs laptop option).

My favorite ways to keep warm at Lost Lands:

  1. Layers! to be able to take on & off as I dance vs walking through the crowd or back to camp. A middle weight pashmina is also key. ;)
