  • 6 min read

The countdown is officially ON until we are BACK AT HOME in the beautiful Legend Valley! Surrounded by dinosaurs, lasers, immersive art, and our favorite dubstep music & people!

What about all of the things we still need to do before we leave?!

DON'T PANIC!
I got you! :)
It's my 4th Lost Lands & probably my 10th or so camping festival!

I've made A LOT of mistakes and slip-ups along the way, and every year or every festival/event, I get better and better at setting myself up for success. Not only do I always make lists of things that go right and wrong, but I always write them & review them right away on the drive home after the festival. While everything is super fresh in my mind... or my ADHD brain will absolutely forget!

So let's get into it! I'm sure there's something new that you may learn, no matter if it's your first time going, or you're a seasoned headbanger. Otherwise, please feel free to COMMENT so we ALL CAN LEARN! I'd love to share the best comments in a future post.

BONUS TIPS at the end!

HERE ARE MY Top 5 Things To Do 1 Month Before Leaving for Lost Lands 2025:

  1. Set Up Mock Camp!

Of course this only goes for those who are going full wook and camping with the rest of the Losty Lands fam! Nothing against hotel/AirBNB people - that's a whole different conversation/style of attending this festival that deserves it's own post! I have never NOT camped, so I cannot comment on this style of attending festivals. I would love to interview someone for this, stay tuned!

    • First, you need to ask yourself, what camping style did I buy? GA Car Camping? Tent-Only Forest Camping? GA Tent-Only Camping? Easy Tent Camping? Glamping?! RV Camping? There are so many options and they are all DIFFERENT SIZES. The link above has the sizes listed for each type of campsite + camp layout ideas + lots of other info regarding camping in general at Lost Lands.

    • We always do GA Car Camping so we can park right next to our campsite.

    • How big is your tent? Does it fit inside the size guidelines? Does it fit all of the people in your campsite? Does it fit under your canopy? These are all questions to answer when you do a mock set up of your campsite.

      • please note that this yurt is 13x13 and does not fit in a single car camping spot at Lost Lands! Also it is now unavailable on Walmart.

  1. Air Out & Wipe Down Camping Gear from Last Time!

Speaking of camp, we have to air out & wipe down all of our camping gear from the last time we used it. Weather that was last year or a couple months ago, it's time to air it out & make sure there is nothing broken that could be mended, repaired or needs replaced. This could honestly be done 2 months before due to longer shipping times nowadays...

We ALWAYS air out our camping gear as soon as we get back from our trips as well to avoid mold and excess dampness.

    • Camping Gear that I Wiped Down & Aired Out 1 Month Before Lost Lands 2025:

      • Grill Case & Grill

      • Potty/Shower Tent

      • Fold Potty

      • Big cooler

      • Small cooler

      • Mr. Heater Buddy

      • Folding Camping Chairs x2

Usually we would be airing out our tent from last year, but it broke at Lost Lands 2024! And truthfully, it was too big for the single GA Car camping space. So we actually bought a new style of tent for Lost Lands 2025! We set it up today for our mock camp set up, and I am so excited to try it out for this year. It is a little less space, technically, compared to our tent that we used in 2023 & 2024 - but it's taller in more of the space altogether, easier to set up & hopefully less hot in the middle of the day. I'll be posting separately about this!

  1. Create Your Grocery & Meal Prep Recipe LISTS!

Eating & cooking at camp is one of the best parts of camping at a music festival!

Honestly, we had to all scramble last minute last year in 2024 when there was a burn ban confirmed a week or so before the festival and ALL FLAME WAS BANNED. Which meant, almost all off our hot meal plans were cancelled since we could not have our little camp grill. BUT we figured it out! With one of those zipper seal hot plate "portable microwaves" that the truckers use to heat their food! It truly was a game changer & it is probably coming back with us for 2025, even though we can have our grills this year. ;)

    • Meal Prep Recipe Ideas for Camping at Lost Lands 2025:

We will make all of these the week/weekend before & pre-freeze it!

      • Breakfast Burritos with Turkey sausage, egg, cheese

      • Fajita chicken mix with rotisserie chicken - for quesadillas

      • Shred a rotisserie chicken for wraps

      • Protein peanut butter balls

      • Carrot + Apple + Orange + Ginger + Strawberry mix

      • Chicken salad - NEW FOR 2025

    • Grocery Ideas for Camping at Lost Lands 2025:

      • Fresh fruit - Green grapes, Greenish Bananas, Strawberries, Pineapple, Watermelon, Oranges/Mandarins

        • Wash, cut & pre-package at home for best budget friendly option!

      • Fresh veggies - Celery sticks, Carrots, Cucumber slices, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Edamame

        • Wash, cut & pre-package at home for budget friendly option again!

      • Granola Bars, Granola, Rice Cakes, Protein Bars

      • Tortillas, Mini Croissants, Mini Bagels for sandwiches & chicken salad as alternatives for bread (that can get soggy & smashed so easily)

      • Click here for some more ideas!

  1. Order any and all last minute things you need to!

So they will arrive on time & you'll have some extra moments to check for any issues with sizing, fit, tears, etc. The last thing you want to do is get to the festival or camp and have your new boots not fit right or your new tent be missing a pole!

    • Some things people usually order last minute:

      • new tarp(s)

      • new shoes/boots

      • new tent(s)

      • tights/fishnets

      • insoles for shoes/boots

      • electrolytes in bulk

      • braiding hair

      • outfit accessories

  1. Start to PLAN & FINALIZE all of your OUTFITS!

Are you going for only 3 days, or all 6 days?!

Remember, you'll need to PACK FOR ALL WEATHER! This is the Midwest after all & the future forecast is beautiful, but a little chilly at night! So please be prepared for RAIN OR SHINE and HOT OR CHILLY in the valley in September! :) I posted the future forecast as of now for Legend Valley below

    • All the types of things I pack for varying Midwest weather

      • warm LAYERS for sleeping in - so I can add or remove as we sleep through the night/morning and the temperature changes so drastically

      • oversized harem pants - to throw over my outfit for the walk back to camp

      • emergency rain ponchos

      • waterproof boots (thanks momma T)

      • warm dry socks - in ziplock for sleeping in that always stay in the car

      • ziplock every outfit separately - even the day/night chill hangout clothing for camp - because of how damp it gets

      • & honestly this deserves it's own post!

BONUS TIPS:
  • If you have kid's or pets - plan the month ahead for who is taking care of them the days you will be gone, their food/meals, and who can walk/play with them, etc...

  • Make sure you TAKE PTO from your job in time! if you are blessed enough to have it... This should be done probably 2 months prior, but some employers will not allow people to take off that far in advance. Just don't forget!

  • Break in all of your shoes and make sure that you have some different types (boots, sneakers, flip flops or slides for the shower/camp). It's really not safe to be barefoot with all of the rocks at this festival.

  • WALK EVERY DAMN DAY!! - Honestly this is something we should of been doing the last 3 months. Outside, too! Exposure to elements, different inclines, etc. But definitely - the last month is KEY! Working out 3-5x a week also would be beneficial, whatever that looks like for you! :)

I'm sure I've missed a few things here and there, but here is a list to get your started setting yourself up for success! :)

Please feel free to comment YOUR personal TOP 5 things that are getting checked off on your checklist this weekend - now that we are officially 1 month away from Lost Lands 2025!

Of course we are all working on our kandi and perlers, as well as other gifts for strangers we are going to meet when we are lost on adventures and side quests.

I cannot wait to see all of you beautiful people in our favorite place in the universe.
